
Jessica Michelle Chastain, born on the 24th of March, 1977, is an American actress. Her most famous work is her role in films with feminist themes. She has won a variety of awards such as an Academy Award, and a Golden Globe Award. Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people on the planet in 2012. Chastain was an enthusiastic actor at an early age. She made her acting debut as Shakespeare's Juliet in 1998. After attending acting classes at Juilliard School, she was offered a talent deal by John Wells. She appeared as a regular guest star on various television shows, and played roles in several stage productions. Chastain made her film debut in Jolene (2008) at the age of 31. She then went on to release six films in the year of 2011 including The Tree of Life (2011) and Take Shelter (2011). Her roles in these films included an aspiring socialite and a CIA analyst, she was awarded Academy Award nominations in The Help (2011) and Zero Dark Thirty (2012). The science fiction films Interstellar (2014), The Martian (2015) and It Chapter Two (2018) were more commercially successful. Chastain's strong-willed roles in the dramas The Most Valuable Year (2014), Miss Sloane (2016), Molly's Game (2017) and Scenes from a Marriage (2021) were also highly acclaimed. She went on to portray Tammy Faye Bakker in the biopic The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021) with the Academy Award for Best Actress, and Tammy Wynette in the miniseries George & Tammy (2022). Chastain established Freckle Films to promote diversity in film production. She is also an investor in Angel City FC. She has been vocal about race and gender equality. Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo (fashion executive) is her spouse.
