Anna Paquin
Anna Paquin, a Canadian-New Zealander actor. Paquin was born in Winnipeg and raised by Wellington Paquin's mother, made her acting debut as Flora McGrath. For this role she received an Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress in The romantic drama The Piano at the young age of 11. She was the second youngest recipient in Oscar the history of Oscars. Canadian-born New Zealand actor who won the Academy Award as a youngster for Best Supporting Actress for acting as the bright and interesting girl who played Holly Hunter's lead role on the film The Piano. As a result of an audition, Flora McGrath was cast as the daughter a Scottish pianist. Flora McGrath is the daughter of a muted Scottish musician, who emigrated from Scotland to New Zealand to marry in the 19th century. At the age of a teen the family relocated from Canada to the United States. Paquin played the lead role in the film Fly Away Home in 1996 as well as a brief appearance in the film as Jane Eyre as still a toddler. Paquin played Frankie Addams as a child in the television adaptation of Carson McCullers novel The Member of the Wedding. Paquin was also in the role of the queen of Spain in Steven Spielberg's 1997 feature film Amistad. She played teenagers as part of Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000) and portrayed her Polexia Aphrodisa character on the screen in Almost Famous (2000).
