The song is a blend of reggaeton, pop and rock has not just brought interest to reggaeton, but also drew interest to Latin music generally. Billboard's Top 100 featured two songs which were Spanish predominantly, as well as four tracks in 2016. At the peak of Despacito's popularity in 2017 19 songs mostly in Spanish were in the top 100. It climbed to 41 in 2020. Following the time that Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in the year 2017 popular artists began to collaborate with reggaeton musicians. Drake and Bad Bunny were part of a team on MIA (2018), while Madonna collaborated with Maluma on Medellin in the year 2019. The mainstreaming of reggaeton was a concern for some performers by the year 2020. Rauw alejandro and a younger generation determined to maintain the style.
